I know, people might have waited a while for this review, but after 2 unsuccessful install discs I found one that works and now I’m ready to give it a review about it.
Like I said earlier, I had two bad ISO’s for WinFLP. But eventually, I found a good ISO. During install it was like, a Vista install, with the WIM image, and the GUI install all the way through. But it was Had the XP Install background with the orbs, but the background was different, and the install told you what it was doing.
Then after setup, it had to go into the first boot agent, which with it it rebooted 4 times.
Then after the first boot agent was done it rebooted the last time, then brought me the login screen, (for those with FLP, the username is Administrator, the password is the one you set in setup).
After I logged in, the desktop was in 1024×768x16×60, (1024×768 at 16 bit color with 60 refresh rates), which the color sucked, so I increased it to 1280×1024x32×60, (1280×1024 at 32 bit color, with 60 refresh rates). After I increased the screen resolution, the icons changed to the XP Standard.
Some of the Pre-installed software are Windows Messenger 4.7 and Windows Media Player 10.
After a few days, I upgraded to IE7 RC1 and its working right now, iTunes, and QuickTime works as well, but in iTunes, when your ripping a cd to the library, it goes at 0.1x speed, instead of at least 2.0x or 2.5x. Symantec Client Security is working like a charm as my firewall and Symantec Anti-virus for anti-virus, they’re both working good. Yesterday, I installed Microsoft Pinball for XP, and it works perfectly. So I wondered if the Windows Vista Sidebar 5342 would work in FLP, so I tried it and its working awesomely. So after I installed some other software, I decided to install the Media Center Royale, style and its still working like a charm.
Some of the downsides of WinFLP are, the lack of games, (I know, its a business OS and Games aren’t usually needed), and the lack of desktop wallpapers, but the wallpapers problem was easily fixed.
Over all I give WinFLP a a 9 out of 10.
